Émile Sénéchal Biography

Born in Saint-André, New Brunswick in 1892, Émile Sénéchal started in business as a well driller in 1911. Although he was only 19 years old, it was the beginning of a long journey in business. In addition to his well drilling business, he operated a General Merchant store from 1918 to 1933. In the early 1920s, the Gatineau Power Company hired Émile to drill a few wells as a geological study for the construction of the intake tunnel beneath the town of Grand Falls. From 1927 to 1944, he cultivated the land he owned on the Saint-André road. In 1936, Émile purchased a flour mill. This equipment was converted into a hardwood sawmill. From 1938 to 1949, his main occupation was to operate his own lumber camps and sawmill.

Business Evolution

It was therefore in 1950, at 58 years of age, that he started to manufacture potato bags. Through generations of dedicated management and continuous adaptations, the company also manufactures bags for charcoal, compost and wood shavings.
